Eldora Speedway Named 2015’s Favorite Track of Fans of Fast
(1/9/2016)
Close Voting Showcases Surge in Dirt Racing Popularity Across the United States with over 600 Different Tracks Receiving Votes
As the mid-winter lull engulfs the overall world of motorsports, RacingIn.com is proud to recognize Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH as 2015’s Favorite Track of Fans of Fast. In incredibly close voting among the top 3, Eldora narrowly edged out Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO by just 0.5% of the total vote. Even closer, last year’s Fan Favorite, Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, IL garnered just 0.1% less of the total votes to come in 3rd.
Being named a favorite track is nothing new to Eldora Speedway as the track has also topped the voting in other national polls in prior years. "This is an exciting day for everyone involved at Eldora," said Joe Crowley, Eldora's public relations director. "We are always building on what Earl Baltes (Eldora Founder) put here and Tony Stewart (Eldora Owner), Roger Slack (Eldora General Manager) and all of our employees are committed to our fans. We’ve had 62 great seasons and we are certain we’ll have a great year in 2016.”
As 2015’s Favorite Track of Fans of Fast, Eldora doesn’t just receive the title, but they’ll also receive a $500 donation from RacingIn.com to evenly divide among all class purses on their opening night of 2016 racing. “RacingIn.com was launched in 2009 to connect race fans with tracks all across the United States,” explained Scott Kosak, founder of RacingIn.com. “As more and more Fans of Fast use it to find great racing, we will continue to focus on finding more ways to support grassroots racing all across the United States!”
Showcasing just how many different tracks have a wealth of fan support, 13 of the Top 15 different tracks garnered at least 1% of the survey votes which specifically asked fans to name their favorite track that they had actually been to in 2015. In addition, given the growing popularity of dirt track racing, it was no surprise that 13 of the top 15 were dirt ovals. Ten different states are represented in the top 15 with Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan all having multiple representatives. (Click on any track name for their profile)
