Hesston Speedway Announces 2016 Track Sponsorship

(1/23/2016)

Hesston PA, Jan. 22, 2016, FIVE STAR Powersports and FIVE STAR Mitsubishi announced today that the Five Star family of dealerships has agreed to be the official track sponsor of the historic Hesston Speedway for the upcoming 2016 racing season.

Greg Sloan, President of the national award winning Five Star dealerships said “that there is a true need for corporate sponsorship for venues such as Hesston to keep the cost of this type of family entertainment affordable”. The sponsorship offered us a way to support the community that supports our family of dealerships.”

Hesston Speedway was opened in 1961 by Sonny and Peggy Eriksen. The current owner, JELT Enterprises, LLC purchased the track in 2014 from the founder’s son David R.Eriksen’s estate who became ill in 2013 and was forced to close the track.  JELT reopened the track in 2015 with a very successful 12 event racing season.

JELT’s president, Jon Claycomb said that “the agreement with Fiver Star will allow Hesston the opportunity to make improvements to the property, offer an expanded racing program and help the Huntingdon community.  It’s a win, win for everyone”.

In 2016 Hesston plans to run 9 Super-Late Model events, highlighted by being a 2 day hosting track in the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek Series June 9th & 10th.   Hesston also plans on featuring 14 Late Model Sportsman races and a tractor pull.   In addition to offering very competitive win and tow purses, It plans to introduce ‘The Hesston Championship Points Series’.  The $10,000 Total Purse will be awarded across all five (5) of its features Classes, Super-Late Model, Sportsman Late Model, Street, Hobby and 4 Cylinder.  The 2016 racing season will open with an Enduro race on April 10, 2016.
