Kris Schroeder remained undefeated in Thunder Light features with his third win in a row, a streak that began on opening day. Brian Parker led much of the Thunder Light feature and wasn’t caught and passed by Schroeder until there were two laps to go. Parker had to settle for second but we will see him in victory lane soon enough with the winner’s trophy. Dan Swain also had a good run finishing third followed by Cole Littlewood and Jeremy Decourcy.

Roadrunners

Top three Roadrunners threading the needle through lapped traffic

The Roadrunners had a race for the ages with Bob Williams and Melinda McCarthy taking turns out front before Jarrod Soucy worked his way around McCarthy. Soucy held the lead for a few laps until Billy Osbourne took over the top spot. With six or seven laps to go Soucy got outside of Osborne and the top two ran side by side. While Soucy and Osbourne ran side by side Ricky Fissette caught the top duo and was on the inside groove behind Osbourne looking inside trying to make it three wide for the lead. The trio came upon lapped traffic and had to thread the needle by freight-training between a lapped car on the low side and a lapped car on the top side. After that with two to go the trio went right back to the formation of Osbourne leading with Soucy outside and Fissette on Osbourne’s bumper. They ran that way until the last corner when Fissette got a run on Osbourne making it three-wide and the drag race off turn four between Fissette on the low side, Soucy on the high side and Osbourne in the middle. Soucy powered his VW to victory just inches in front of Osbourne and Osbourne beat Fissette to the line by inches. McCarthy and Max Dolliver finished fourth and fifth respectively with impressive runs by both drivers.

Rookie Stocks

Roger Tanguay Sr. took the lead early in the Rookie Stock main. Tanguay led most of the race but Anthony Belfiore and Bill Heliwell were closing in lap by lap. Tanguay had trouble on the back straight and spun into the tire barrier bringing out a caution. The race resumed with Heliwell on the pole and Belfiore outside of Helliwell. Helliwell was able to keep the lead on the restart but with laps ticking down to a precious few Belfiore was able to get past Helliwell and went on to win and Heliwell finished second. “Rockin” Ronnie Robinson had a great run and finished third followed by Bill Clement Sr and Jerry Lepage.
