Historic track is still running.

(5/8/2013)

The land for Oglethorpe Speedway Park was purchased in 1946 and construction began soon there after. It was finally ready to open March of 1951 and the first race was a Motorcycle event. In May of the same year the first stock car race was held. Names of drivers over the years have included Johnnie Parsons, Joe Weatherly, Fireball Roberts, Speedy Thompson, Al Keller, Buddy Baker, Herb Thomas, Lee Petty, Don White, Floyd Gilbert, Ned Jarrett, David Pearson, Dale Earnhardt,  Lynn Turner, David Into, and many others. The facility is always being upgraded to keep up with the fans and drivers to be sure everyone that comes to see an event has a great time.

The season kicks off with 5 divisions of weekly stock car racing from Feb through Oct, then a winter go-kart series. We also have other events in the schedule such as Monster Trucks, Motorcycles, Bicycles, Concerts, Festivals, and many other venues. Thanks to the Stone Family for continuing to provide such a great place for dirt track races and other family fun..
