85 Speedway was blessed with perfect weather, good car counts, and great racing last Saturday night.

Charlie Upchurch of Mabank made a clean sweep by winning his heat and A-Main races in the IMCA Modified division. Upchurch turns 66 years old in a few months and has proven that his racing experience continues to make him a great competitor.

"That was a lot of fun and my car handled great," said Upchurch. "That was the best I've had the car setup in a long time."

Upchurch finished ahead of his 15 challengers. Matt Deaver and Windle Gaston finished second and third, respectively.

Starting ninth in the IMCA Southern Sportmod division, Rickey Haney made his way to fourth place during the first lap. He methodically picked off drivers until he took the lead on lap nine. After that, the race was his to win with 13 cars following. Keith Nolen finished second and Jerry Boyd finished third.

Jimmy Parker started pole position ahead of 10 cars in the Street Stock division. He led all 15 laps with Brian Sartain and Wes Milliorn trailing. There were no position changes between the front three cars, so Parker won his first race of the season.

The Bomber A-Main resembled the Street Stocks. Jake Culver led every lap and made his way to victory lane. Starting eighth, Tim Brewer worked his way to second place by lap seven. Brewer followed up his previous win with a second place finish Saturday. Tanner Flanagan finished third of 11 cars.

Dylan Fagan beat out eight Cruisers with his first A-Main win of the season and his first year racing in the division. He finished fourth the previous week. Johnny Ashton, who won the previous week, finished second and Chris Carson finished third.

The Young Guns Shootout was on hand with 15 Junior Mini Stocks to see which driver would take the checkered flag. 85 Speedway regular Thomas Lunsford Jr of Crandall made his way to victory lane in the A-Main and also won his heat race. Jarred Marquez and Cailey Nichols finished second and third.

The Texas Winged Modifieds will join all regular classes this Saturday at 85 Speedway in Ennis. The first 100 young children through the front gate will receive Easter baskets full of goodies. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and racing begins at 8:00 p.m. Call 972-875-8500 or visit ennis85speedway.com for more information.
