85 Speedway Black Gold Shoot-out Oct 7-8

(10/3/2011)

October is the time of year dirt tracks across Texas host end-of-season big races. 85 Speedway in Ennis, Texas is no exception to this tradition.

Track promoter Roger Archer will host the 13th Annual Black Gold Shoot-out on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8. This is the most anticipated show of the season and draws large crowds on both nights.

Friday will feature heat and qualifying races for the Modified, Sportmod, Street Stock, and Bomber divisions. Racing has been excellent in these divisions during the 2011 season and is certain to be exciting Friday as the drivers race hard for inclusion in Saturday's race program.

Saturday will feature the crowd favorite Sprint Series of Texas. 85 Speedway hosted the Sprint Series of Texas earlier this year and drew a record crowd of the season.

When track announcer Mike Lane asked the crowd if they would like to see the sprint cars return, they gave their approval with overwhelming cheers.

The fans went wild as the cars took to the track for the A-Main race. With numerous position changes and exciting racing, fans took to their feet to watch the action.

Waxahachie resident Jerry Hammock drove the No. 4 car for a win at his last visit to 85 Speedway. After his win, Hammock said 85 Speedway is his “favorite track in the entire world! I always run good here and the crowd is phenomenal!”

Let's see if Hammock can win again at his second 85 Speedway appearance of the season. There will be a full 24-car field and the competition will be tough.

Race divisions from Friday racing will return on Saturday with the addition of the Twister and Jr. Mini Stock divisions.

Street Stocks, IMCA type Modifieds and IMCA type Sportmods will compete for $1,000 each to win, Bombers/Hobby Stocks/Pure Stocks will be vying for the chance at $600 to win, the Cruiser winner will take home $300, and the Jr. Mini Stock winner will take home at least $100 with the possibility of more sponsorship money added.

85 Speedway welcomes individuals and businesses to add additional money to the purse of any race division.
