MACON SPEEDWAY RENOVATIONS WELL UNDERWAY COMPLETE NEW RACING SURFACE-LARGE AMOUNT OF BLACK DIRT ADDED

(2/2/2010)

(Macon, IL) Macon Speedway has received lots of attention from NASCAR Stars Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace, Tony Stewart and friends over the last few years since the grand reopening of Macon Speedway back in March of 2007. Schrader, Wallace and Stewart together with Track Enterprises, Inc. promoter, Bob Sargent, formed a new ownership group responsible for breathing new life into the famous 1/5 mile dirt oval. Breathe life is just what they did indeed.

Repairs and renovations have been top priority since the opening back in 2007. Fence surrounding the track has been replaced. The walkway in front of the main bleachers was deleted and replaced with all new lumber. The Turn 4 Suite was touched up, bleachers were worked on, billboards sporting new sponsors were erected, new surrounding fencing was added and a new parking lot used for fans and a much needed pit area was created. This off season is no different than the past three that the track has underwent since the opening. The first item on the agenda for improvements and from the racers stand point maybe the most important aspect, is the condition of the racing surface. Track workers with the help of C&J Excavating are adding dirt to the racing surface to provide the smoothest, fastest racing surface possible for the upcoming 2010 season.

Macon Speedway opened its doors back in 1946 and has been a popular local track for well over 60 years.
When Macon Speedway opens next spring, fans and drivers should be pleased with the new improvements scheduled for the New Year. The 2010 schedule showcases a variety of traditional fan favorite special events plus three Nights of NASCAR Stars when NASCAR drivers are available for autographs and actually compete with local favorites. These Nights of NASCAR Stars have been a huge hit with our fans. We are proud to be able to bring NASCAR stars to the local level. This is a chance to get up close and personal with your favorite stars of NASCAR that is normally not achieved at the larger racing venues.
Macon Speedway’s aggressive summer schedule includes a Memorial Day Special featuring the Northern All-Star Late Models plus NASCAR Stars on May 31, Night of NASCAR Stars II and III are TBA at a later date. Fans won’t want to miss the storied Herald & Review 100 in combination with UMP Summer Nationals on July 8.
