One Thing Every Racer Should Do Is...

OWN YOUR NAME AS AN INTERNET DOMAIN!

 

THINK ABOUT IT  ...  www.YourName.com  ...  www.YourNameYour#.com  ... Why wouldn't you want to own your name?

 BUT, what does 'buying your name' have to do with finding sponsors?

 

Well, this is where you have to forget that you're a racer and realize that you're also a 'one-person business' who sponsors look at not just as a racer, but a marketing platform that can form a bridge between the fans and their company. 

 Whether you're ready to build an actual website or not, owning your name as an internet domain is an important way to solidify your ability to grow in the future so that your fans can easily connect with your sponsors with just the click of a mouse!

For now, at least consider 'buying your name' before someone else does... it's not a 'bank breaking' purchase...  it's usually anywhere from $7.50 a year to $15 a year depending on the service you choose to buy it from and you sometimes get discounts for securing your domain name for multiple years. 

 

Is There a Risk in NOT Buying Your Name...

 

Believe it or not, there is a potential future risk in NOT buying your name.  If, no let's make that WHEN you do realize your dreams of being a successful racer in whatever field you race, odds are that some entrepreneurial domain buyer will have come along, seen you rising up the racing ladder and probably bought your name first!  That's right... it happens all the time... and there's nothing stopping anyone from buying anyone else's name!

You see, there are people and companies all over the place that focus on buying up words, names, terms, whatever they think might be a good future website and keeping it 'locked away'.  They do this because they figure eventually, someone will want that name and if they want it bad enough, they'll pay 3, 4, 5, 100, or more times what they actually paid for it and make a nice profit.

So, for now, if you think this tip is helpful, go ahead and at least consider making that purchase.  You'll be one step closer to being able to offer yourself as the ultimate 'bridge' between your fans and your sponsors!
