Jerry Sharp started his racing career in go-karts in 1994. Over the next couple of years he competed at Joliet Memorial Stadium (where he still holds the track record for most wins in a season), Norway Speedway, US41, and Utica Raceway. At each track that Jerry competed at he found himself in victory lane.
After winning three consecutive championships at Joliet Memorial Stadium, Sharp decided to take on the National-level of karting. In 1996 he entered his first national race, the WKA Manufacturer's Cup Winter National and finished in an impressive sixth place.
The following year Sharp Motorsports added the WKA Horstman Gold Cup National Series and the WKA Midwest Sprint Series Divisional to their schedule. It wasn't long before Jerry began his winning ways again competing against some of the best drivers throughout the country.
1998 brought one of the most memoriable years in his young racing career. He was crowned WKA Manufacturer's Cup Champion, finished runner up in the WKA Horstman Gold Cup series, obtained two WKA Grand National Championships, and won the Midwest Sprint Series Championship. He also had the priviledge of becoming a team driver for Robinson Speed Shop and Coyote Products.
With over 100 wins and poles to match, 10 championships, several Outstanding Sportsmanship and Driver of the Year awards, Jerry decided to end his go-karting career in 2003.
That set the stage for his move up to stock cars in the premier Super Late-model class.
After only his fourth start at Illiana Motor Speedway, Sharp won his first heat race and was a contender for the feature win until a flat tire ended his day.
Jerry Sharp is a young and upcoming driver in the racing scene who has shown the talent to compete within the elite ranks of racing.
When not racing Jerry enjoys playing Frisbee golf, shooting pool, playing video games, fishing, 4-wheelin', and hanging out with his friends.
Sharp has a very bright future ahead of him in the racing industry. With the help and support of his sponsors his goal is to become a professional race car driver.
