My Super Modified when I was part of the Tucson racing community.

I've been around dirt track racing since I was 4 years old. Nothing like going to the Jalopy Races on a Saturday night. And the race track I first loved and still remember was Riverside stadium in North Kansas city, Missouri. Sprint car racing was watching the Weld brothers at Olympic Stadium on Independence Ave in Kansas City.

When I was 15 I started as a pit member for #48 Bill Crane. He drove a 59 Dodge with a 383 in it.

When I was 17 Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas was the place for stock car dirt track racing. My first race was there in 1968. But it was short lived because the United States Army was my home for the next 23 years.  During those years and when I was stationed in the United States, I was able to catch a few rides at Lawton Speedway in Oklahoma. I-70 Speedway for its short lived dirt period and Texhoma Motor Speedway for Supermodifieds with 6 cyl. engines. (Sportsman Class) and then Heart of Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas.

I moved to Arizona in 1984 and retired from the military there in 1990. But in 1986 thru 1991 I was deeply involved with the dirt track racing in Arizona. I raced the #35 Rods Complete Auto Supermodified. My last year of racing I finished 5th in the standings and had Main feature wins at Globe and Eloy racetracks.

I sold all of my racing equipment and did not even go near a race track for the next 15 years. I was the proud father of a daughter that needed full time attention. Once she started attending Arizona State University, I started going back to the races knowing what would happen later. In June of 2012 I watched sprint car driver Ricky Hood, who is my age also, win two nights in a row over the current stock of hot young drivers.  Thats all it took. Within 3 weeks I bought a sprint car from Dwight Cheney in California.

The 2013 racing season will be my return season to racing.
