As engines roared to life last month at racing venues across the United States, the level of interest in local race tracks and grass roots racing has continued to rise. In fact, as seen at RacingIn®.com, that interest level is higher than it's ever been in the past 5 years and the diversity of the Top 10 Tracks of May 2014 proves it.
Consistent side-by-side racing at tracks like Orange County Speedway in Middletown, New York are one of the great appeals of local racing.

The interest in racing across the United States isn’t confined to any one form of racing, as evidenced by the 10 most viewed race track profiles in May of 2014. These ‘Top 10’ tracks, representing various forms of racing venues, saw a cumulative increase of over 500% in the number of times their track profiles were viewed in May of 2014 vs May of 2013.

Williston Basin Speedway, a 1/3 mile clay oval in Willison, ND,
Daugherty Speedway, a 3/8 mile clay oval in Chase, IN that just reopened in 2014 after being closed since 2008,
Toccoa Speedway, a 5/16 mile clay tri-oval in Toccoa, GA,
Atlanta Dragway, a dragstrip in Commerce, GA,
Brewers Speedway, a dragstrip in Rocky Mount, NC,
Orange Show Speedway, a ¼ mile asphalt oval in San Bernardino, CA,
Crystal Motor Speedway, a 3/8 mile clay oval in Crystal, MI, and
Cherokee Raceway, a dragstrip in Rogersville, TN

The ablity for race fans to get up close and personal with race cars and drivers from their own community is another great connection point for local tracks like Central Texas Speedway in Kyle, TX

The growth in interest toward grassroots racing at local race tracks is not surprising to Kosak who has seen RacingIn®.com grow from about 50,000 visits in it’s first full year in 2009 to approaching 1,000,000 visits in 2014. “Over the past 5 years, I’ve seen more and more race fans looking for more and more racing at race tracks across the United States,” he said, continuing, “I believe that when the economy changed in 2008 and 2009, there was a natural shift in how race fans engaged live racing action. Now, instead of blowing their savings on one big weekend, they actually enjoy their time at local tracks up to 10 times a year.”

Interest in Local Tracks Grows Over 30% in May of 2014

As was proven in May of 2014, when RacingIn®.com was visited more than 100,000 times, the grass roots of motorsports are being sought by race fans from Maine to California and everywhere in between. Of the highlights that were noted during May of 2014:

RacingIn®.com was used well over 100,000 times to connect race fans with race tracks they may have never been to before. This is a 34% increase over May of 2013
Individual race track profiles were viewed by race fans over 116,000 times, a 24% increase over May of 2014

The 2014 race season continues through the early fall at well over 1,000 race tracks across the United States. While times are tough for some, the reality is that interest in grassroots racing is growing.
