The Harvest 330, the premier event of the mid Michigan racing season, will be part of a doubleheader racing program this weekend at Spartan Speedway in Mason, Michigan.
Racing action kicks off Friday night with the season championship for the Sawyers Chevy Superstore Sprints along with the Michigan Legends, Pony and Pure Stocks. Jim Heeney holds a 27 point lead over Tom Fedewa and a 36 point edge over fourteen year old female sensation Taylor Ferns for the first ever Spartan sprint title. The “Cat’s Parts Mart Rollover Contest” will be the final event of the evening. Racing begins at 7:30 pm.
The top drivers in the tri state are will be in action Sunday at the Harvest 330. Super Late Models will go 100 laps on the fast quarter mile paved oval for a top prize of $2000. 2010 Spartan champion Logan Beckwith will be on hand along with Dave Stehower, Dour Finley, Jimmy Gallagher, Chris Hettinger, Tim Ryan, Phil and Andy Bozell, Randy Day, Curt Spaulding and others. The SUPERPRO Series will go 75 laps in the Contingency Sponsors 75 Presented by Drive Train Specialists and All Star Performance. Point leader Tommy Cook looks to extend his point lead over brother Al Cook, Jr., Kevin Todd, Rick Everidge, Mike Kugler, Claude Plante, Jr., 16 year old female star Reagan May, Eric Barcus, Paul Freeland, Brian Bauman, Danny Leeck, Ed Young, and Ryan Inman. The Modifieds go 50 laps, Pony A and B divisions and Pure stocks battle it out in 25 lap features and two Figure 8 races round out the racing program. Pit gates open at noon, spectator gates at 3:30 p.m. with racing getting underway at 6 p.m.
Spartan Speedway will wind up the 2010 season on Friday night, September 10 with the second “Night of Destruction” of the year. School Bus Figure 8’s, Trailer Figure 8’s, Flag Pole Races, Powder Puffs, and “Run What You Brung” for Modifieds, Pure and Pony Stocks. For more information, go to the web at
