OFFICIALS CANCEL PARK CITY CUP / AIR CAPITAL SHOOTOUT FOR 2017

(4/19/2017)

81 Speedway officials have been keeping an eye on the weather forecast this weekend with hopes of a break in the potential of rain and cool conditions.

With teams traveling from across the country to 81 Speedway in Park City, Ks. for the "re-scheduled" Park City Cup / Air Capital Shootout NCRA - ASCS Red River Sprint Car $15,000.00 To Win Challenge, a decision had to be made by mid-week prior to teams departing for the speedway.

With a 100% chance of rain forecast'ed for Friday, 40% chance of rain on Saturday, temps dropping into the low 40's at night over the weekend, officials made the decision early Wednesday afternoon to cancel the Park City Cup / Air Capital Shootout scheduled for this weekend (April 21-22) and look forward to the 2018 date of March 30 & 31.

"This was not a decision easy to make," said General Manager of 81 Speedway and President of the National Championship Racing Association.  "But it was made easier by a forecast that has called for a high percentage of rain and cooler conditions since the release of the 10 day forecast last week.  To be fair to the teams traveling in, the fans who come from all over to see the best Sprint Car drivers in the nation, and the event, the decision had to be made today."

Again, dates for the 2018 Park City Cup / Air Capital Shootout NCRA Sprint Car Challenge will be Friday and Saturday, March 30 & 31.

There will be no races at 81 Speedway in Park City, Ks. this weekend (April 22).
