(2/27/2015)
Marion Center Speedway is gearing up for the start of its 49th race season. The first event of the 2015 race season will be, Saturday, April 18th, with a “Test & Tune” day. The race track will open its gates at 11:00am with the event starting at 1:00pm thru 5:00pm. All racers can bring their cars out and try them out on the track before the regular race season begins the following Saturday Night, April, 25th. Admission in to the Pits for the day will be $25.00. Race fans are also welcome to “Test & Tune” day to come and see their favorite cars and drivers at no cost for admission in to the grandstand area.
June, Rich, and Janet are the driving force behind this family run operation. We try to provide a smooth racing surface as our father, David Potts, did. Our father 49 years ago had a dream to build a race track that he could drive his own race car on. A good smooth track that wouldn’t beat up the car he would work on all week to race on the weekends. With the support of his wife Marybelle, “Belle”, Potts behind him, his dream came true, and continues today. The family still promotes Marion Center Speedway as a place that race fans of all ages can enjoy. A place where families can watch the fastest dirt track racing and enjoy good food. Admission for this race season is the same as last year: Adults $12.00, Seniors $11.00, Kids (7-12) $5.00, 6 & under FREE, Family Pass (2-Adults & 2-Kids) $30.00, Pit Fee $25.00. Race time will start at 7:30pm with the grandstand and concessions opening at 6:00pm, and Pits opening at 5:30pm.
This race season there will be 6 racing division at Marion Center Speedway: Super Late Models, Steel-Block Limited Late Models, Crate Late Models, Street Stocks, Strictly Stocks, and FWD 6-Cylinders. The 6-Cylinder will be the “New” division added to the line-up this racing season. The idea is to provide a division for low budget racing, cars without modifications from the factory, no turbos, nothing but nearly street legal cars without the glass attached and roll bars added. Rules/spec sheets for the division have been posted on our website http://www.marioncenterspeedway.net.
Also, we at Marion Center Speedway would like to welcome the Crate American Racer Series in 2015! The CARS program is new for the upcoming race season and will offer a $20,000 point fund with $5,000 to the overall series champion. Along with a great point fund we are glad to announce to our drivers that the series will include random tire and product giveaways throughout 2015. The CARS program is all about weekly home track racing, as a team’s best finishes at our weekly track will be stacked up against the best finishes from teams at all the participating facilities. This series will allow our drivers to compete against fellow crate racers across the northeast without the added expense of traveling. This program will use the newly designed American Racer Crate tire or the current Hoosier (FASTRAK or RUSH) crate tire. The newly designed Crate American Racer Tire utilizes a block tread pattern and will be available in the 44, 48, and 56 compounds. For more information on the CARS program you can call 800-638-7028 or email us at liastire@hotmail.com
