Tacoma, Washington –
9-12-2013 – This Saturday will mark the final race of the 2013 Super Late Model season at Evergreen Speedway. “Terrible” Tim McDougald will join his fellow competitors for the first time during this racing season, as he brings the #68 KMB design / Hargis Engineers / Print-NW / Ringers Gloves Toyota Camry to Monroe, Washington for the season finale.

“It’s been a long season for me,” claimed a noticeably humble McDougald. “I’ve had to step back quite a bit this year. We started out trying to build a new car. Some changes in marketing strategies meant that I was losing my marketing partners that have been with me for the past 6 years. We’ve been very fortunate to have a great team of partners for so long now. But it’s a new day, and we’re trying to regroup and move forward. The build of the new car has taken much longer than we had planned. Our budget didn’t allow for weekly racing and building the new car, so we’ve been pretty focused on that instead of on racing. That’s been tough for me, not racing each week. It kills me to not be out there. As a driver, you want to be in the car. But you do what you have to do.”

Returning to the track for Championship Night, McDougald will have a slightly different focus for this night. “We feel like we’ve fallen behind quite a bit by not being out there all year,” said McDougald. “So we’re trying to use this event as testing for next year. I’ve got some things I want to try, quite a bit different than what we’ve been doing in the past. The car hasn’t been that great previously so we’re looking for a new plan, some new ideas, and we want to use this night as a test session for next year so that we might get a jump on this new car, maybe start next year a bit better than we’ve been.”

Sitting on the sidelines hasn’t been all bad for McDougald. Most nights you can find him in manning the radio for his teammate and brother, Tommy Rasmussen. “I really enjoy spotting for Tommy,” said “Terrible” Tim. “It’s something I started doing for him before I started driving Late Models and I’ve grown to really like it. It’s pretty exciting, too exciting at times! I like to think I’m pretty good at it, and it helps me stay connected to the sport. Don’t get me wrong, there’s days where it really kills me to have to watch the race I want to be in. But at least it keeps me involved in it.”

Looking forward to next year, McDougald and his #68 Toyota Camry are in a re-building mode, trying to return to the position he was in just a few short years ago. “We’ve had a tough couple of years, no doubt,” said McDougald. “We’ve gone from a series where we were definitely a major player, competing for wins and championships, to a mid-pack car in a series we just weren’t ready for. After the LLMRS folded we had to find a new home, and this is where we felt the most welcomed. The competition is tough here, these guys are for real. And right now, we just don’t have all the elements to compete for wins. But we haven’t given up, we plan to have the new car done for 2014 and we think it will really help us move forward. We’re trying to rebuild our marketing package and find some new partners who are interested in not just having their name on a car, but standing out from the crowd and in the community. We like to have fun and we like to show the community what we’re all about. We like to get out there and be seen. We think we offer a great platform for any business to really build a presence in the local community and build more visibility for their brand. Hopefully we can find the right partners who see the benefits we offer and want to come on board.”

Don’t miss “Terrible” Tim McDougald’s return to his NASCAR Home Track of Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington this coming Saturday, September 14th, as the 2013 Super Late Model racing season comes to an end.
