My name is Devin O’Connell and I am passionate about racing.  I am currently 16 years old and a Junior in high school.  I have been racing since I was nine years old.  During the 2014 season, I will be racing in the Allison Legacy Touring Series, as well as, a 1934 Legend Coupe.

Please visit and "Like" my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/devinoconnellracing or follow me on Twitter @_DevinOConnell.  By "liking" or following my page(S), you will be able to get trackside updates and comnents along with race day photos.  In addition, my new website is up and running at DevinOconnellRacing.com.  Feel free to fill out the "JOIN" page to help me build my fan base for future sponsorship opportunities.

I first became interested in racing when I was a kindergarten student in Chatham, MA, and discovered a classmate raced go-karts.  When I discovered that kids could race karts, I was determined to get into the sport.  I had to be very persistent for several years in order to persuade my parents to let me try racing.

My father purchased my first kart when I was nine years old.  The kart had been sitting in someone’s garage for a couple years.  My dad and I showed up at our first race with the kart (on old tires), a utility trailer, a bicycle pump, and a Leatherman tool.   My first race proved to be very successful as I finished third in the 17-kart field.  By my fourth race ever, I was in victory lane.  I finished my first season with 3 wins, 10 top 3’s out of 18 races, and second in points.

The only crew I have ever had is my father and me.  We have had to learn the world of racing on our own bit by bit with the generous help of others and lots of reading.  Despite our limited knowledge, I have managed to achieve much success over the past seven years.  I have two karting championships, nearly 30 karting wins, and 12 top 3’s in an Allison Legacy racecar.  In addition, I have finished second in karting championships 4 times and I finished the 2013 season second in points in the Allison Legacy Touring Series.

My goal for the 2014 season is to continue racing in the Allison Legacy Touring Series.  In addition, I plan to do Legend car races at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Concord Speedway.  Although I have improved a lot during the 2013 season, I have realized, with the help of Donnie Allison, that I have some more learning to do.  I am also working to secure marketing partnership funding so that I can move up into bigger cars and bigger races.

04/02/11 Waterford Speedbowl Allison Legacy Cancelled due to weather
04/17/11 Lee USA Speedway, Lee, NH Allison Legacy 5th My first top 5 in the ALNRS. Qualified 6th, pushed back to 7th, and worked back to 5th. With 3 laps to go, I swapped paint with the #2, in turn 2, got sideways, but was able to keep the car straight.
04/30/11 Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford, CT Allison Legacy 6th We were lacking some horsepower but still managed to qualify 9th, fell back to 10th, and worked my way up to 3rd with 2 laps to go. Two separate three wide situations, with me in the middle of both, resulted in a 6th place finish.
05/01/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 2nd Jr. Champ, 1st Jr. Outlaw This was my first race in a Jr Champ. I qualified 3rd and finished 2nd in the feature race. I also raced in the Jr. Outlaw division where I qualified on the pole and won the race.
05/08/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 4th This was a close race with the top 5 karts all finishing nose to tail. I qualified 5th and in the feature race I finished fourth.
05/14/11 Manadnock Speedway, Winchester Allison Legacy Rained Out
05/15/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ Rained Out

05/21/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Allison Legacy Rained Out
05/22/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 2nd Devin qualified 2nd in the heat race after falling as far back as 6th. In the feature, Devin started on the outside pole and fell back to 4th by lap 2. A caution on lap 3 tightened the field back up but Devin got a bad restart and fell back to 5th place. Another restart on lap 14 was much better and Devin made up one spot to 4th. At the end of lap 22, with 2 laps remaining, he was back in 2nd place until the checker came out.
05/23/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw Rained Out
06/03/11 Lee USA Speedway Allison Legacy North 5th This race was added to the schedule to make up for some of the rain outs. Devin missed the first practice due to radio problems. He managed to get on the track late for the 2nd practice but looped the car around in turn 2. Despite having no practice, Devin finsihed the heat race in 4th place. The feature saw Devin fall as far back as 7th. He worked his way up to 6th and made a last lap pass to finish the race in 5th.
06/06/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 1st Devin started in 6th position for the heat race and finished 1st to qualify on the pole for the feature. There were no shoratge of wrecks in the feature as only 8 of the 15 karts finished the race. Devin jumped out to the lead and lead every lap except 1. Devin and the 2nd place finisher got together just before the finish line, but Devin managed to stay up front to get the win. This is Devin's first Jr. Outlaw victory at Stafford.
06/12/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ Rained Out
06/13/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 16th Devin won his heat race and started 6th in the feature due to the new inversion rule at Stafford. It wasn't long before Devin took over the top spot in the feature race. On the last lap a risky pass by the #12 in turn 2 resulted in the #12 running herself and Devin in to the wall on the backstretch. Devin was not able to complete the race.
06/18/11 Manadnock Speedway, Winchester, NH Allison Legacy 8th Devin had a bad draw and started at the back of the field for the heat race. He drove his #43 Chevy Monte Carlo very well to finish and qualify in the 4th position. A rain delay caused problems for Devin when a chasis loading bar was left in the car for the feature. Devin managed to drive the "pushing" car to an 8th place finish.
06/19/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 1st Devin started 5th and finished third in the heat race. The feature completed only 2 laps before a caution came out due to the 2nd place kart spinning in turn 2. Devin got a great restart and jumped in to the 2nd place spot as the green flag dropped. He remained in 2nd until the last lap when he passed the lead kart to take the checker for his first Jr. Champ victory.
06/20/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 1st Devin finished first in his heat race placing him on the pole for the feature. During the feature, Devin grabbed the front spot and lead the entire race to take the win.
06/26/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 3rd
06/26/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Allison Legacy 8th This was Devin's best race to date in the Allison Legacy despite his 8th place finish. The day began with Devin starting on the outside of the 2nd row for the heat race. He drove a great heat race and finished in 2nd place. The feature had Devin on the outside of row one for the start. He got caught on the oustide and fell back to 5th. By lap 11 he was in 4th and closing on the 3rd place car. On lap 28 a spin by another car brought out the yellow flag. Devin restarted on the outside of row 2. The pack entered turn 1 with no problem, but on the exit of turn 2, Devin was hit in the left rear which caused him to spin and then he got hit in the left rear by another car. The impact broke the heim joint on the panhard bar. It took 16 laps to repair the damage and Devin rentered the race with 6 laps remaining. He managed to finish the day in 8th place.
07/08/11 Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA Allison Legacy Rained Out

07/11/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 1st
07/18/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 7th
07/23/11 Manadnock Speedway Allison Legacy 7th Not much to say about this caution free race. Devin qualified 4th in his heat which placed him in 7th (inside of row 3) for the start of the feature. He worked up to 6th but then fell back to 7th where he would finish the race.
07/24/11 Twin State Speedway Jr. Champ 2nd
07/26/11 Stafford Motor Speedway, Stafford, CT Jr. Outlaw 3rd 15 karts started the Jr. Outlaw feature but only 9 finished on this thunderstorm delayed night of racing. Devin started the feature on the inside of row 2. Entering turn 1, after the drop of the green flag, Devin was hit in the left rear resulting in a three kart pile up. One kart retired for the night, but Devin had only minor damage and was able to restart in 12th place. By lap 3, Devin was up to 7th and when a caution came out on on lap 5, he was up to 5th. It took 2 more laps after the restart to get into 3rd place where he would remain until the checker flag.

09/18/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 3rd
10/08/11 Waterford Speedbowl, Waterford, CT Allison Legacy 3rd The day started rough when Devin spun on the 9th lap of the heat race. On the restart, he was unable to avoid a wreck in front of him and broke a tie ride. Devin knew he had a fast car and proved it during the single caution feature race. He drove patiently, working his way from the back of the pack to a last lap pass to claim third place. This is Devin's first top 3 finish in the Allison Legacy Series.
10/09/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Jr. Champ 1st Devin began the qualifying heat race on the inside of row 3. He finished the race in 1st, putting him on the pole for the feature. Devin lead the feature from green flag to checker to capture his 2nd Jr. Champ kart victory of the season.
10/16/11 Twin State Speedway, Claremont, NH Allison Legacy North 3rd Devin drew the pole position for the heat race. Starting from the pole, he battled with his loose car to a 3rd place finish. A track bar adjustment prior to the feature improved the car handling. Devin drove a great race falling back to as far as 5th before working back to finish the race in 3rd for his second career top three in the ALNRS
